A Brief Review on Micro-Implants and Their Use in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics

The aim of this study was to review the literature and evaluate failure rates factors that affect stability success temporary anchorage devices (TADs) used as orthodontic anchorage. Data collected from electronic databases: MEDLINE database Google Scholar. Four combinations term were keywords: “micro-implant”, “mini-implant”, “mini-screw”, “orthodontics”. following selection criteria select appropriate articles: articles on implants screws anchorage, published in English, with both prospective retrospective clinical experimental investigations. search provided 209 abstracts about TADs After reading applying criteria, 66 included study. data obtained divided into two topics: which affected TAD rate what degree how many they quoted. Clinical three main groups: patient-related, implant related, management-related factors. Although all meta-analysis reported greater than 80 percent, determining inconsistent between studies analyzed made conclusions difficult.
